CORE RESEARCH AREAS

INSIGHTS INTO IBERIA – ESSAS OUTRAS VOZES

The personal dimension of this project is rooted in my long-standing engagement with the Iberian and Lusophone themes, shaped by several years spent living on the Iberian Peninsula, a period that profoundly influenced my life and played a decisive role in shaping my sense of identity. During those years, I developed a deep appreciation for both Spain and Portugal, despite the common tendency to view them in opposition or to privilege one over the other.
From the very first encounter, my fascination was immediate — a force to which I was powerless, and one to which, even today, after so many years, I can scarcely say “no”, an interest that has retained its freshness, intensity, and inner urgency over time. Out of this attraction emerged a desire to devote myself to the very core that permeates and shapes cultural, historical, and emotional landscapes and mentalities of Spain and Portugal. Much of this essence is underestimated or dismissed as mere folkloric ornament, yet it extends far beyond such simplifications. It endures in what we call identity: it acts throughout history, leaves traces, sparks debates, unites, divides, and enchants. And above all, it remains alive.

My work does not follow a strictly academic framework; rather, it takes the form of a cross‑disciplinary project that brings together artistic practice, observation, analysis, and literature. Its aim is to merge these elements into a coherent whole, allowing them to inform and enrich one another. This approach enables a broader and more nuanced exploration of cultural phenomena—one that moves beyond conventional methodologies and opens space for intuitive, experiential, and creative forms of understanding.

SACRED LANDSCAPES: CONTEMPORARY NARRATIVES

… … … … Stories of mysterium tremendum et fascinans… … … ..

SACRED LANDSCAPES: CONTEMPORARY NARRATIVES explores the space where the two worlds, the sacred and the ordinary, intersect, giving rise to hybrid mosaics.
Reportage, literary portraits, analysis — each attempts to capture the moment when the sacred and the profane slip into one another, revealing what is visible and what is still waiting to be named.

IDENTITY SPACES

… … … … Identity – the stories we carry, the rituals we repeat, and the names we choose or refuse. In these spaces, identity is shaped by what we remember, what we forget, and what we are still learning to claim. They hold the echoes of origin, belonging, of displacement, of personal history, of memory and place forming a quiet cartography of who we are becoming: landscapes drawn in gestures, languages, and geographies of memory. …. … … …
